Gregory Balogh’s wine industry career began in 1983, when he founded a Wine Brokerage Company in the U.S. representing various French appellations, mainly Bordeaux and Burgundy wines. Within a few years, the Company had developed a national network of distributors for its suppliers.
In 1991, Gregory took a position in Lyon as Managing Director of Jean-Paul Selles, a major wine shipper in France.
In 1994, he was hired as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Maisons, Marques and Domaines, U.S.A. In 1996, Gregory was promoted to Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of all operations owned by Champagne Louis Roederer in the U.S. In January of 2001, he became the President and Chief Executive Officer. In this capacity, Gregory also oversees all operations of Roederer Estate and Scharffenberger Cellars wineries.
Executive Vice President
Guillaume Fouilleron began his career in New York, where he worked for the French Trade Commission, promoting French sports and leisure goods companies in the U.S. market. In 1991, he joined Arthur Andersen in Paris, where he spent the next six years. During this time, he advised companies of diverse size and industries on financial and organizational issues, such as public offerings, acquisitions, process reviews and business analyses.
In 1997, Guillaume relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area to become Chief Financial Officer of Maisons, Marques and Domaines, U.S.A. and Louis Roederer’s other U.S. ventures, including Roederer Estate, Scharffenberger Cellars. In January of 2001, Guillaume was promoted to Senior Vice President, and later relocated to New York to head MMD NY office, which opened in 2005. His role is to oversee MMD operations in major north east markets.
Guillaume holds a Master degree from L’Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Paris (ESCP).
Senior VP Marketing and Communication
Xavier Barlier joined MMD in 2001 after spending the previous four years in the position of Director of Corporate Alliances and Co-branded Marketing of Disneyland Paris, promoting the Paris theme park internationally. He was previously with the French automotive group Renault for seven years as Head of Public Relations.
Xavier’s wine industry career began in 1981 when he joined Champagne Moët & Chandon in the position of assistant Export Manager. In 1984, he moved to Los Angeles to preside over a US wine brokerage company representing French family estates. During his 5 years in the US, Xavier served as a marketing consultant to French food and beverage firms, and also as a regular lecturer on wine marketing for University extension programs. His role today is to oversee all marketing and communication activities, including brand management, wine education, and supplier relations.
Xavier holds a Master’s degree in General Management and post-degree certificates from Stanford (’89) and Insead (’96). He also served as Chair of the Wine Market Council (www.winemarketcouncil.com).
